Recensies van Zwemmaatjes – locatie Meerkamp

🤖

Teachers on Saturday morning for kids batch is super rude and unhelpful.

This was my kids 2nd class for diploma C and I was rushing to be on time for her. I asked one teacher if she knows the changing room ans where she can go. We went in and out couple of times and I saw a teacher inside , she told me shoes are not allowed here. I said okay , I will remove them , may I know where shall I send my kid ? She looked at me & told me same thing again instead of telling me where to go. I said okay , I will remove them if you can tell me where is diploma C classes changing room. Again she told me shoes are not allowed here. I removed my shoes and asked her again. I was expecting her to tell me where to go and I would have removed my shoes if I had to walk inside that room anymore. She was very rude ignored distress parent and waited until another teacher came and showed her the way. Unfortunately I don’t have her name but she was tall blond hairs and I sure many parents had come across the same behaviour.

My son attended this swimming school for 1.5 years, during which we consistently supported his progress and trusted the instructors’ feedback. However, without any prior notice or explanation, he was suddenly moved to a lower-level group (Level 2) while his peers advanced to Level 3. Despite repeatedly asking for clarification through conversations and three unanswered emails, I received no communication or response—even to my termination request. This lack of transparency deeply affected my son, who felt excluded and disheartened after being separated from his group of 1.5 years. The demotion also implies it could take him around four years to earn his A diploma, compared to about 1.5 years at other schools. Overall, this experience has been extremely disappointing, marked by poor communication, lack of accountability, and emotional distress for both my child and me. I cannot recommend this swimming school to parents who value professionalism, empathy, and clear communication.

My son has been attending swimming lessons here for 1.5 years. We trusted the process, showed up every week, and believed in the feedback we were given — that he was doing well and progressing. So it was a complete shock when, without any prior warning or explanation, he was placed in a lower-level group (Level 2), while the rest of his group moved on to Level 3.
This decision was made without any communication. I asked multiple times why this happened, and I was told simply, “he was placed in this group.” I sent three emails asking for clarification — none of them were answered. I also sent a termination email, which was ignored as well.
What’s most painful is how this affected my son. He was devastated. He cried, feeling punished and left behind. He had trained with the same group for 1.5 years, and suddenly he was removed and placed with children he didn’t know. It broke his spirit.
After 1.5 years, being placed at Level 2 means he only passed Level 1 — and still has three more levels to go. That means, at best, it would take him around 4 years to get his A diploma here. Meanwhile, children at other swimming schools are completing their A diploma in just 1.5 years.
This experience has been deeply upsetting — not just for my son, but for me as a parent. We invested time, trust, and money, and received no transparency, no support, and no respect in return. I would not recommend this swimming school to any parent who values communication, progress, and emotional care for their child.

De Meerkamp’s recent handling swimming level reassignment was deeply disappointing and inconsistent with no evaluation standards. Despite her proven progress and previous promotion, she was unfairly downgraded without explanation, causing her emotional distress. The lack of transparency and accountability has completely undermined my trust in this school’s management.

I had a bad experience with Meerkamp. My son took swimming lessons here for two years, and he can actually swim well. But the evaluation was never clear, because the coaches kept changing all the time. We never knew exactly what skills he had already mastered and what was still missing.

Whenever I asked about the A diploma, there was no clear answer. After such a long time my son lost motivation, and it felt like wasted time. In other swimming schools kids can get the diploma in just a few weeks.

Don’t waste your time here, choose another swimming school.

Extremely bad experience with the swimming classes. Save your money and go somewhere else. In the beginning, they told us our child is learning quickly. Now eight months further and we still have the diploma nowhere remotely in sight and Out of the blue they told us after the summer camp (where he swam every single day) and 8 months of lessons that he will take ANOTHER YEAR to get his diploma. This is not the place for your child to learn swimming and they are basically not serious and not teaching properly. The reason why there is a place here is because nobody wants to do it and you should not as well.

I booked a swimming lesson and received confirmation by email. However, when I arrived and was asked to make the payment at reception, I was told that there were no available spaces for the lesson. It’s quite surprising how such a well-regarded organization is managing its bookings.

Good place in Amstelveen for kids swimming lessons, also for recreational swimming.

I was not allowed to swim with my son at 5:30 pm in the class of David for the C diploma . I grew up by the beach and can easily swim in the pool and communicated this to him . He only interrogated the non-white parents as he assumed the white ones can swim . I missed out on an important life event due to racist profiling by David . I was in contact with Joris van Soerland from Meerkamp who basically said he would get back to me and did not . So hopefully nobody else has this experience in this day and age and in a liberal country it's very disappointing

Convenient pool in Amstelveen. Time restrictions on individual swimming, but overall not hard to find time blocks. Friendly personnel. Some issues: changing the rooms are quite small because the changing area is shared by men and women; there are no flags to signal end of lane for people doing backstroke.
